
Technology Business Research Center (founded in 1999) is an international multi-disciplinary research institute at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT).
TBRC builds on university’s dual strengths: technological and business knowledge. This background has enabled TBRC to build multi-disciplinary research teams with state-of-the-art competencies in university-industry research projects.
TBRC coordinates co-operative research projects within the three faculties of LUT – School of Business, Faculty of Technology Management, and Faculty of Technology. TBRC co-operates closely with companies over selected industries and university borders. TBRC utilizes actively national and international research contacts of the branch.
TBRC’s mission is to contribute to top-level academic research and discussion on technology-related business knowledge at global level. TBRC’s specific advantage is the integration of cross-departmental theoretical competencies that can be applied for different industries and applications. The research objective is to promote competitive advantage of industries and companies through innovativeness in technology and business. The research conducted in TBRC is done in projects funded by national and international financiers and industry. TBRC produces both high-quality academic research and managerial results for companies.

TBRC's operations are managed by the following governing groups:
TBRC board of directors include members from significant companies in our customer industries, vice rector of research at LUT, dean's of the faculties, and operative management of the institute.
TBRC management group is represented by two professor members from each faculty, and the operative management of the institute.
TBRC executive project management group is represented by the project managers and operative management of the institute.
