You will find this document quite useful. It provides an overview of the financial issues involved in an EU project. It is usefult to read it over carefully. It is organised according to the contents of the (Model) Grant Agreement (see the Legal issues Section below) but it also functions as a separate document.

Each project and every partner will be audited at the end of the project. To be able to prepare for the audit and to make sure you follow the correct procedures, familiarise yourself with the audit guidelines.

The financial issues are perhaps the most challenging aspect of EU projects, if for no other reason than because most people involved with them are experts in their own fields and not in EU project financing. The Finance Help Desk is an EC co-funded service that help applicants on financial issues. They also have a very useful requently asked questions (FAQ) that answers most common questions.
